Our establishments and employees receive an awareness of water conservation, energy and waste management measures. To achieve this, selective sorting bins have been set up in offices as well as in common areas to encourage our customers to sort waste in order to promote recycling by all.
Our bathrooms have a water limiter for showers as well as a soap dispenser to reduce overconsumption. Through visible adhesives, our long-stay guests are also invited to specify when they want their bath towels changed, which helps to reduce water and electricity consumption.
In terms of electricity, all our bulbs have been changed into led and low consumption bulbs. In addition, an automatic system also allows our residents to turn off the lights and heat when leaving their room. The lights are also controlled in our corridors thanks to motion sensors. Finally, double glazing is installed to reduce noise pollution. When it comes to partnerships, it is crucial for The Hotels Vinuales to work with local partners by favoring short tours. Thanks to several local service providers and craftsmen, The Hotels Vinuales are happy to offer to their customers products from French, regional and even very short-circuit agriculture, such as :

Each year, we gradually increase our share of purchases from these producers to continuously improve the quality of our services.

For the years to come, new actions are considered over the medium-long term within our institutions :
The team at the Grand Hotel Gallia & Londres aims to set up a compost plant in relation to our waste sorting measure. With a large park within its walls, this composting would allow growing our own aromatic plants, fruits, vegetables, flowers, while improving the fertility of the soil.
Currently, The Grand Hotel Gallia & Londres already has two electric terminals. Therefore, the management wants to install, in all establishments with parking, electric terminals to accompany the transition to electric and hybrid vehicles.

Finally, The Hotels Vinuales plan to accompany tourists and athletes who wish to act more on their carbon footprint. In short, the teams of The Hotel Vinuales do not lack ideas and energy to act in the interest of their hosts and the environment !

They have obtained the regional label “Grand Site Occitanie Sud de France”: legendary summits like the Pic du Midi and the Col du Tourmalet, remarkable natural sites like the Gavarnie circus, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Bridge of Spain in the heart of the territory of the Pyrenees National Park and finally Lourdes, a place of spirituality in the world.

The Pic du Midi: You can reach this legendary summit by, either through the Campan Valley, or through that of Luz Saint Sauveur and the Col du Tourmalet, an ideal point for a photo break. Arriving at La Mongie station, a cable car takes you on a spectacular journey to the summit, at an altitude of 2,876 meters. On the Pic du Midi plateau, 600 m² of landscaped terraces offer a 360° view of the Pyrenees, the Great Plains of the Southwest and the lights of Barcelona, at night on clear days. The show is unique, the panorama exceptional. For thrill-seekers, a pontoon in the sky, a 12 m long metal walkway, at the glazed end rises to 900 m above the void for a unique and vertiginous point of view. But above all, the Pic du Midi has long been home to a unique observatory for scientists, and the highest museum space in Europe, which passionately retraces the human epic of the construction of this exceptional site. 

The Cirque of Gavarnie: Is part of the French-Spanish “Pyrenees-Mont Perdu” recognized as a natural and cultural property (natural landscape) of the UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. From the village of Gavarnie, in 1h walk on an easy path you will find yourself at the bottom of this incredible wall of 1700 m height and 14 km of circumference. You can contemplate and admire its 16 summits at more than 3000 m, and approach at the foot of the largest waterfall in Europe (423 m). You are very close to Spain, just a few kilometers away. The Cirque was excavated 50 million years ago by glacial erosion. It is a grandiose, unique, majestic site. It is also the cradle of Pyrenees (late 19th/early 20th century), an approach to mountain combining sport, nature and culture, considering the physical experience of the mountain as inseparable from aesthetic and cultural emotion.

The Spanish Bridge: Starting from the historic and thermal village of Cauterets, many pleasant trails in the middle of nature offer visitors the opportunity to escape to the rejuvenating landscapes, where the green and dense forests rival the bubbling torrents, the tumultuous waterfalls, sparkling lakes and meadows of summer pastures covered with wildflowers. The fauna and flora are rich, you can observe many plants, see isards, marmots, a bearded vulture in this area of the park where they are protected. One of the most famous lakes, the Lake of Gaube, offers a rather easy hiking pretext for a relaxing outing in the middle of a rich and preserved nature. Far from the Spanish border, the site was a place of passage a few centuries ago for trade with Spain, so the bridge owes its name to the fact that it was part of a mule track towards the border. Unique site of great natural beauty, it is one of the most visited places of the Pyrenees. 

Lourdes: In the heart of the Pyrenees, Lourdes is a small historical mountain town where, in 1858, a young shepherdess named Bernadette saw the Virgin appear eighteen times, in a cave (The Cave of Massabielle) by the river. Every year, nearly 6 million visitors from more than 140 countries come to share stories, hopes and prayers. A visit to these places full of emotion, offers tranquility and a benevolent sacredness. It is a stop full of charm and legend to which no one remains insensitive. The history of the construction of the Sanctuary over the decades are very rich in cultural and architectural terms. This discovery must continue with the visit of the old streets of Lourdes in search of a rich hidden heritage, the castle and its Pyrenean museum and why not the climb of the Pic du Jer (on foot or thanks to its funicular) to contemplate the city and the surrounding valleys at an altitude of almost 1000 m. And to finish the visit, discover a captivating and relaxing natural site, the Lake of Lourdes, last vestige of the ice age in the Pyrenean Piedmont.

Classified as an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997 with its 2 neighbors, the ice cicles of Estaubé and Troumouse, it is the champion by all categories: 6,5 km of circumference, summits rising to more than 3000 meters, a vertiginous waterfall at 423 meters high and 15 meters wide. To access this masterpiece of Nature, simply park in the village of Gavarnie, it is as rustic as it is authentic, then it takes approximately an hour to follow the wide main road along the river Gave, from which the name of this exceptional site derives. When you arrive at the “Hotel du Cirque” you will have a feeling of total immersion, surrounded by 360 degrees of majestic and soothing nature. Allow one more hour to get to the bottom of the waterfall. Time stops at the heart of the Cirque de Gavarnie, the cradle of Pyrenees that combines ascent and shared emotion.

Château Montus and Bouscassé: In the north of the department, grow the vineyards of Madiran, protected designation of origin (PDO) red wine of character and terroir of the southwest between Gers, Pyrenees, Gascogne and Bigorre. Lac d’Estaing: About 30 km by car, the Lake of Estaing offers an enchanting setting, a source of serenity and natural beauty, surrounded by magnificent peaks. This water mirror runs in about an hour on an easy path, the time to fully breathe the open air, to enjoy the harmony of the vast landscape between raptors in the sky and colorful reflections on the surface of the lake. You can end this peaceful walk by tasting some local delicacies (Pie of the Pyrenees, blueberry jam,etc.) in the charming village of Arrens-Marsous, typical of the village of altitude. 

A green weekend, without stress and without car:
Les Halles de Lourdes: To taste the best of local and Pyrenean cuisine, nothing is better than the Halles de Lourdes which house the market every day (except Sunday) under a beautiful metal architecture of the late 19th century. In 10 minutes on foot, you will find something to delight your taste buds, whether you prefer salty or sweet treats: cooked meats with black pork from Bigorre, pie from the Pyrenees, Tarbai beans inseparable from real Toulouse cassoulet, tommes and cheeses from the country, spit cake, blueberry pie…
between flavors, perfumes, colors and accents of the Southwest, the culinary treasures of the Hautes Pyrenees are at your fingertips! 

The Pic du Jer: With its summit located at 960 meters above sea level, the Pic du Jer is ideal for oxygenating nearby without difficulty. The easiest access is to take the funicular, then follow the short path to reach a breathtaking 360 degrees panorama overlooking Lourdes, Tarbes, Pau, the Argelès-Gazost Valley and the Pyrenean mountains. You can also take the full route, with a drop of about 500 meters. It will take you from 1h30 to 2 hours to get to the top yourself, taking full advantage of the landscapes, fauna and flora that will make this hike a relaxing and really attractive getaway.

The Castle: In 10 minutes walk from your hotel, go to the Castle which, overlooking the town of Lourdes on a rocky peak, offers a panoramic view of the Pyrenean mountains and the surrounding peaks. This stone fortress, listed as a Historic Monument, holds many other surprises. In turn a comtale residence, stronghold, royal rpison and barracks, the castle in today a museum of France that tells the history of the Pyrenees in a rich and immersive route. Then you access a large outdoor terrace overlooking a large botanical garden. There, flowers and plants, with in the background an exceptional panorama, invites you to calm and to forget about your daily stress. Finally, impressive architectural models will attract your sense of observation and will be fun for some. 
La voie verte des Gaves by bike: An old railway road, this line has been rehabilitated into a 17 km smooth cycle path linking Lourdes to Pierrefitte-Nestalas, crossing several charming villages. Hop on a bike (why not an electric one?) and pedal at your own pace along the Gave of Pau accessible in less than 10 minutes. Here and there, signs will sometimes show you remarkable points of view (on the Hautacam or Pibeste massifs), sometimes they will guide you to other trails and sites of interest, including the village of Cauteret with about 10 additional kilometers.

Gravel: In recent years, the department, thanks to a few enthusiasts, has more and more roads known for Gravel outings. You can easily leave the asphalt to discover other routes: to the Soulor pass, the climb of the Cabaliros, along the Pau Gave and even climb to the Tourmalet.

Hiking:
Whether it is to make one or more stages of the mythical trail of the GR10, to take a family walk, to discover the route of the lakes in the Nature Reserve of the Neouvielle, to escape in the National Park of the Pyrenees, or hiking on the paths of Santiago de Compostela, everything is done here to cross splendid landscapes and make authentic encounters.
